Hello!
I love solving design problems. Some of my skills include synthesizing user research into insights and ideas. UX/UI design, interaction design, prototyping, email design, illustration, and front-end coding. I enjoy hockey, have an unhealthy obsession with cryptocurrencies, and love mountain biking. I'm also a recovering product manager.
Projects
Mobile App Design

Objective
Design a mobile application to connect people with food trucks near them, view menus, select items for purchase, and

Problem
People have apps like Uber Eats and Seamless for food delivery, but what about discovering food trucks plus ordering and paying in advance?

Understand specific problems to solve for our users, develop information architecture and wire-frame solutions, build out a fully-designed prototype.
E-commerce Store

Objective
Gain experience designing and developing an e-commerce website and understand the goals, problems, and objectives of an e-commerce merchant.

Problem
How do you appeal to a saturated market with a fresh angle and create an engaging online experience?

Approach
Research e-commerce stores, develop a niche, understand the problems to solve and potential customers, create wireframes and information architecture, develop the site, and source product.
Website Redesign

Objective
Re-design an existing commercial website to improve KPIs and gain experience with Material Design.

Problem
Lacks a clear value proposition, benefits are buried in the copy and overuse of bulleted lists may lead to high bounce rate, call to action is not prominent, no testimonials creates an appearance of un-professionalism and promotes skepticism, little visual interest and spartan use of imagery to help promote the travel lifestyle makes the site dull and non-appealing.

Approach
Identify KPIs, wireframe solutions, mockup site design.

Visual Redesign

Objective
Practice visual design skills by creating a realistic product. In this case, I developed a watch for a "City Collection." The first piece in this set is the Dallas watch.

Problem
The challenge was not just in creating a realistic-looking watch, but how do you capture an entire city in a single logo?

Approach
I did a lot of research trying to piece together the various elements that define Dallas. It would be relatively easy to make a cowboy, or some western-style object the central theme, but that's not really Dallas. Ask a local Dallas resident where the cowboys are and they'll tell you to go to Fort Worth or AT&T Stadium. No, the watch needed to authentically represent the city. I finally landed on the pegasus, a frequent symbol seen throughout the city (and perched atop the famous Magnolia Hotel) that harkens back to the Magnolia Oil Co. days and what would eventually become Mobil in 1959. The star references one of the most popular sports teams in the country--the Dallas Cowboys, and the local NHL hockey team the Dallas Stars. It also symbolizes the Lone Star state and Dallas within it. The red, white, and blue colors match the Texas flag and the United States, a slight nod to the great pride Texans take in being Americans. Together, they form a watch that represents the unique side of Dallas paired with the overwhelming sense of pride Texans take in their state and their country.
